This is a very basic Excel spreadsheet (with three tabs) that selects four students at random based on their assigned number (出席番号). This was originally designed for use with Sunshine 1's Power-Up 5 program.
Show the spreadsheet to the class using a projector or television. Type in the number of students in the class in cell K2. This provides the limit for the random number generator. Note: the first and last boxes select a number from that whole range. The middle two boxes select a number from the top or bottom half of the range. This produces a more even spread of numbers and reduces the 'doubling up' of results.
When used with Power-Up 5, the numbers showing above the pictures indicate which student owns the object. Those students stand up. They have to answer "Which umbrella is yours?" or "Whose [stationery] is this?"
The advantage of this approach is that you can press F9 and instantly get new results. It's a fun and slightly more dramatic way of doing it. The pictures are from Irastoya and can be changed easily.
