Here We Go! 2 Unit 1 Goal: Writing
Worksheet to practice the grammar in Unit 1 (Past Simple) and write a diary entry.
This worksheet is inspired by one I found online. I changed it to make it suitable for the students at my school. Please make the changes to suit the level of your students.
The worksheet in divided into 3 parts. Part 1 & 2 are to review the grammar in Unit 1 (Past Simple). Part 3 is Diary Writing (Unit 1 Goal).
Part 1: Information Gap. (10 minutes for students)
- Print both worksheets A & B
- Divide the students into As and Bs. Pair a Student A with a Student B.
- First, Student A reads to Student B the ALTs weekend.
Student B must listen to Student A and write the missing words in the blank spaces.
(This should take about 5 minutes. Make sure they don't just copy. Check Answers before proceeding.)When done, reverse roles. Now, Student B reads to Student A.
Student A must listen to Student B and write the missing words in the blank spaces.
(This should take about 5 minutes. Make sure they don't just copy. Check Answers before proceeding.)
Part 2: Questions (This is quite easy) (5 minutes for students)
- Students work alone and choose the correct answers to complete the sentences. (When the time is up, check answers and then proceed to Part 3)
Part 3: Diary Writing ( 20+ minutes)
- First, instruct students to brainstorm and make notes (memo) in the box 1.
- When they done that, they translate their notes from Japanese to English in box 2.
- Upon completion of the above two steps, students must ask the JTE to check their translation.
- If the students get an ALL OKAY from the JTE, they can proceed to the goal of the activity: Diary Writing.
