This is a coded Excel game! If you want to use it, you will have to have Excel and allow macros.
DIRECTIONS
Open up the game and give it a try! If you have any questions, here are more detailed directions.
Character
- Click a character button to choose the theme
- Character Options: snowman, bumblebee, fall tree, sun, jack-o'-lantern, Anpanman, Pikachu, Harry Potter Funko, SpongeBob
Guesses
- Increase/Decrease the number of mistakes that can be made before the character is fully revealed/removed
- Decide if you want to build the character up or take it apart
- Keep the "Guarantee Can Lose" box checked to have the number of guesses be reduced to guarantee a loss is possible (assuming your word/sentence doesn't use every letter of the alphabet)
Vocabulary/Sentences
- Click one of these buttons to get a random word/phrase/sentence from the JHS Blue Sky textbook series
- Click Edit to change what words/phrases/sentences can show up randomly
- Keep the formatting the same! The words have to be in columns A, C, E, etc.
Input My Own
- Click in the white box, type whatever word/phrase you'd like, then click Go.
- Letters show up as * for secrecy.
- Punctuation, apostrophes, etc. are fine but don't use any special characters like @#$%/.
Playing the Game
- Make guesses by typing on the keyboard or clicking on the letter
- The number in the top left corner tells you how many more mistakes you can make
- Click New Game to return to the menu
VARIATIONS / TIPS
- Use the HTMI and USB cable with the electric blackboard to let students come up and make guesses for themselves.
- To make any changes, click the Edit button. This will unprotect the workbook.
- Click Save to stop editing and start playing again.
- To change the text on buttons with macros, right click them to select.
- The numbers in the Words-Phrases tab are to reduce the number of repeats. Words will not repeat until every word in that category has been done once. Feel free to delete/change the numbers, but do not remove or move the columns! If you add your own words, there is no need to add your own numbers.
- Saving the game after playing is good to prevent repeating the same words, but is unnecessary unless you've added or changed anything yourself.
Fixed Bug: (long sentence overflow) 2/3/23
Your stuff is amazing, thanks again!
