Valentines Day Codebreakers Activity

Students will learn a bit about Valentines Day in America and then play a game of codebreakers themed after Valentines Day.

I modified another ALT's valentines powerpoint to share with my students. I think this lesson is suitable for all classrooms Elementary-High Schoolers.
Lesson order:

  1. It should only take 10-15 minutes to share about Valentines Day

  2. Then you can do the codebreakers activity. I made 20 different codes just to make sure I filled the whole class time. I would split students into small groups of 3 or 4, and i give them whiteboards to write their answers on. I would have just put students in pairs, but that would require a lot of white boards and toilet paper to hand out lol. Just for some extra fun I have attached some hearts with affirmations to the end of the powerpoint, and I printed and laminated them to give to students when they get the code right, and then the students with the most hearts at the end of the game are the winners.

  3. If you do want to shorten the lesson, I've attached a coloring sheet that students could do while listening to English love songs.
