HOW ARE YOU / Feeling Bingo

IDEAL FOR GRADE 4/5 or challenging grade 3 activity 23 unique bingo sheets (MOSTLY the same feelings in diff squares) centre square is for kids to write a different feeling (happy)

feelings included on the bingo sheets:
Hangry (not hungry)
Grumpy
Tired
Exhausted
Bored
Good
Fine
Sad
Angry

I purposely steered clear of the typical shoggako vocab “how are you” answers which are happy, sleepy, hungry as most of the kids know these feelings well so it’s a good opportunity to expand their vocabulary. As these new words might be difficult, especially if this is the first time you are introducing them, I’ve included translations on all the bingo sheets. The centre square is where they can write/draw feelings they are super familiar with (which are probably happy, hungry, sleepy, cold/hot, okay, etc. I suggest writing these on the chalkboard while they brainstorm what feeling they want to write down to help them out). In order to squeeze in more speaking practice, either have a volunteer pick the next word for the bingo OR have the class recite them as chants every time a new answer is selected. I shouted "how are you" after every feeling word was picked and asked my class to answer "I'm _____ . "

Also, here is the translation for the Japanese that is written on the centre square: write down a feeling. Katakana is okay. You have three minutes to draw a picture that matches that mood.

Have fun with my bingo game! Used some of the images from the person who created “How are you janken” by the way, so creds to them for some of the images.
