Ask students to name some actions that soccer players do. Try to get them to say the 4 actions from the cards(shoot, pass, save and head)
* I laminated the large cards and put them on the board as they said them.
1. Tell the students that they are going to make a soccer team.
2. Give students each 1 random card (laminated small cards). "This is your first star player"
3. Students need to make a set of 4 (1 shoot, 1 head, 1 pass, 1 save) to finish
The game:
1. Students will find a partner and play janken. the winner (A) with ask "Can you ~?"
2. If the loser (B) has that card, they say "Yes, I can." and give it to the winner. If they don't, they say "No, I can't" and now have a chance to ask.
3. When a student collects all 4 cards they come to the teacher and get a sticker (I usually do top 5 for me and top 5 for JTE)
Other points:
I make a lot of the small cards because when a student loses their last card, they come to the front to get another from the bag/box.
Make a soccer team
Students use the question "Can you ~" to create a soccer team.
