Please see the original activity for detailed instructions.
After teacher demonstration (I used the whiteboard with the file opened to show how to play), write on the board: On ________, I __________. You can fill in the blanks with a different color chalk, so they understand they must change the sentences.
**** I printed it out and added and 's' after the days to help the students remember: 'On Mondays, I go swimming'---not 'On Monday, I go swimming.' I found it easier than editing the file to handwrite the 's' in and then make copies.
While they play, go around the room and make sure they are speaking the sentences and not just writing x's and o's. Some students need a lot of help with this, so I also wrote the target sentences right onto some of their papers.
I found it a perfect activity to use before the Lets Play activity on P 12-13. For that, I had them fill out 3 of the days and then present it to the class (Same target sentences as in the tic-tac-toe. They wrote it in Japanese but spoke the English.)
This 'quiz' part was someone else's idea too, but I can't find the source (will update if I do): Write on the board: *Today I _____. (E.g. play soccer). What day is it? (different color for B-San )It's ___. This really helped them listen to the 'presenters' and let the presenter choose who answers their question (and also who goes next) for more engagement.
