These resources are designed to support the writing of a postcard. The task aligns with the activity in Sunshine 1, p 130, but I am sure it could work for any class. The goal here is for students to use some of the grammar and vocab studied throughout the year to make their own message in English, but my students needed some extra support in the way of a template.
Make sure to change the details on the example postcard first if you want to make it personalised.
Students look at the example in the textbook, identifying the different parts.
Students look at the ALTs example. I shared it with them on teams to reduce paper usage, but whatever works for you.
Students should choose where they want to send the postcard from. It can be somewhere they have actually visited, or anywhere in the world.
Students fill in the template. The Japanese on the template has been checked by my JTE. NOTE- Students need to write their own address for this, so it might be good to get them to check it in advance. A lot of students do not know what their address is. (Or you can use the fake one in the textbook). I had the students address it to me at the schools address.
Students choose their own photo on their tablets and type up their postcard. (Or draw and write and good copy).
After this you can display them. Another way to do it might be to have them write it to someone at home, and then give it to that person.
