Halloween in the Philippines & America (ES 1年, 2年)

a very basic picture presentation for ES 1年, 2年 to use when introducing the concept of Halloween in America, and a similar-ish event in the Philippines: Araw ng Patay

It's October, and as usual, HRTs want to do a Halloween theme for the 1x/month English Class of ES 1年 and 2年.

Since I am from the Philippines, they wanted me to talk about what practices we have, but still sticking to the Halloween theme, to match the target Vocabulary of various monsters and creepy crawlers.

This is just a very short and basic presentation in PDF format, with 3 Pictures that can be used as Talking Points for Philippines, and 3 for America:

Philippines Talking Points:

Note: To make it simpler and lessen confusion, I chose not to talk about All Saints' Day and religion.
1. All Souls' Day / Araw ng mga Patay - A day to remember family members who have died, by visiting the cemetery and spending the whole day there with family, having a picnic, playing games, etc.
2. Tradition of Watching Scary Movies / Telling Scary Stories -It's tradition to watch a National TV program Magandang Gabi Bayan or other scary movies at night, and spook friends/each other with scary stories.
3. Philippine Monsters - In America, zombies, vampires, etc. are used to tell scary stories to children. Similarly, Philippine children are told stories about Philippine Monsters such as tiyanak, dwende, aswang, mangkukulam, tikbalang, kapre, white lady, etc.
(I used a very kid-friendly illustration from Adarna to show the monsters, no need to go into details.)

America Talking Points:

Note: To make it simpler, I chose not to talk about the origins in relation to religion, etc.
1. Costumes and Decorations, Jack-o-Lanterns: People wore costumes of monsters and decorated their houses to look dirty/scary, so that the real monsters, who are believed to visit on this day, will be discouraged from going near them or their houses. (Ex. spiderwebs, jack-o-lanterns: carving scary faces on the pumpkins)
2. Trick-or-Treat: A tradition of dressing up in costumes (scary, cute, funny, person/animal/character costumes) and visiting houses
3. Trick-or-Treat: A tradition of knocking on the door of neighborhood houses and saying, "Trick or treat!" to receive candies from different houses.

*This pdf file contains pictures only. Please provide the explanation to go with each picture.
NO Vocabulary pictures included, as these are already available and provided in all my schools.
