DETAILED EXPLANATION:
-After handing out a worksheet to each student, have the students fill out the first part of the worksheet where they guess what the new vocabulary is and write them under each picture. Once complete, have the students repeat the new words after you a couple of times.
-Then, the students listen to an interview between a reporter and alien sighting witness and fill-in-the-blanks. NOTE: You will need to change the "XXX" in the interview to your school's name, or a rival school in the area.
-Once finished with the dialogue, ask various questions to the class to check comprehension, and then have the students write the answers to the questions located after the interview.
-Finally, give the student about 10-15 minutes to choose one of the aliens on their worksheet and try to write as much as they can about it, keeping in mind the new words they learned in the first section of the worksheet.
TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:
-The JTE really enjoyed the activity. He thought that it was good to have the students listen to a natural sounding conversation with colloquial phrases.
TIPS/CAUTIONS:
-The students had a hard time answering some of the dialogue questions. I would explain the questions before reading the dialogue.
