This activity practices plural nouns and can also be used for "How many..." questions. It also intergrates all four Parts of Learning.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

  • RunAndRead attachment: Cut out the characters from the sentences printout and stick them around the classroom. Also, every pair needs a worksheet.

DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  • Students work in pairs. One is the 'Reader' and one is the 'Writer'. The Reader cannot have a pen and the Writer is not allowed to leave their desk. The Reader seaches the classroom to find the answers and passes them on to the Writer (verbally). For example, "Number 1 is Anpanman." The reader must find Anpanman. He is saying "I have eleven pencils." The Reader then passes this on to the Writer who is now able to complete sentence number 1.
  • When the class are about halfway, yell "Change!" The Reader becomes the Writer and vice-versa. This allows the students to practice all four Parts of Learning.
  • Check the answers as a class.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • You may want to put a few of the sentences in unusual places like under a desk or hidden in a corner just to make it more interesting.
  • When checking the answers you may want to introduce the question "How many (noun)s do you have?" or "How many (noun)s does (name/he/she) have?" depending on the target grammar.
