Im only submitting this because I couldn't find anything on this site to teach units and I had no idea what to do when the JTE told me to a whole lesson on it.
Go through the powerpoint and explain the difference between the metric and imperial systems. I say that the world uses the metric system and that America uses the imperial system when I'm first explaining meters and feet etc to keep it simple. I then ask what they think the UK uses while showing the slide with the world map.
I'm from the UK, so there's a lot of UK stuff in the powerpoint.
For "The price is right" parts split the class into 4 teams. Give each team a whiteboard and pen. Give teams around 30s to discuss each question. Get students to show their team's answers and write them on the board. Then reveal the answer. The team with the answer closest to the real answer gets a point. Tally the points for each team on the board.
Make sure that the students close their tablets or they will google the answers.
I took myself and my school out of the powerpoint, so make sure you change those slides.
Also "quantity" is what they use in Here We Go textbook for liquids
Wow that's a pretty specific request! Hopefully I never get such a request but if I do you've got it covered. Thanks.
Thanks for this I was ask to do this and I`ve been cracking my brain on what to do cos the topic itself looks boring. This is of great help to me.
Much thanks for this! I was asked to do this page in the book and I have no idea how to do it. You are a blessing!
Thank you so much for this! I just got asked to do this page and this is a huge help.
I like how simple this presentation is. Thank you so much. Maybe I'll add some Guinness World record. thanks so much!
This PPT is great! I have updated the currency conversions and prices for my lesson next week. (A Big Mac meal in NYC now costs about $14!) Thank you for sharing your work!
