Hello all!
This is to accompany Let's Try 2s I Like Mondays Unit. I for one am not a fan of this unit because it introduces so many verbs that the students just will not remember, when they barely know how to say Thursday.
Instead, I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to them. If you don't have the book, I believe someone has made a PPT version of it somewhere. Then, we make caterpillars! This is a bit of an arty lesson but as an ex-art teacher, I don't mind too much.
The front of the caterpillar is the head to Wednesday, and the back of the caterpillar is Thursday to Sunday. He is a 4 segment long caterpillar.
Instructions:
-Print out the caterpillar onto A3 paper (prepare before class. Kiddos can do everthing else)
-Stick the caterpillar onto card (do not cut him out before sticking him onto card)
-Cut around the caterpillar and his lil leggies
-Fold the legs down and stick them together
-Place the legs in the desired position behind the caterpillar body (don't put them on the face!)
-Glue the back of the caterpillar on
The caterpillar can be folded and stood up if you put the legs on right.
-Get the kids to write the days of the week (I have a separate reference sheet for spelling)
-Get the kids to draw what the caterpillar ate in the blank space
Bob's your uncle.
Other notes:
I use the We Can and the Mitsue Handwriting font. If you do not have the textbook fonts installed, then please change this to a legible font. Free, dyslexia and ESL friendly fonts are ones such as Comic Sans.
This is super cute! I really love the concept of this. I agree 100% that this chapter is very hard for the kids to learn, and I have just focused on days. I will do this since it acts as a refresher on both numbers and days. Thank you for the upload!!
