Musical Erasers

Speaking practice using the game musical chairs, swapping chairs out for erasers. Flexible to fit any grammar point

Please let me know if an activity like this already exists so I can link it.

As the description suggests, this activity is basically a musical chairs game. I wouldn't consider this a full activity. This works best if you pair it with a sentence writing practice which is what I did when I put it into practice.
I ran this game last minute when I had nothing else on hand. It worked pretty well all things considered, and the students enjoyed it.

Materials:
- a timer
- a substitute for the "chairs" (I had the students use their own erasers)
- a worksheet with a few sentences to practice speaking

Number of students:
- 40 kids, around 9 groups of students

Like musical chairs, the goal of the game is to not be the one without an eraser when the music stops. I had the students practice reading sentences one at a time in a rotating order, with the speaker holding their hands high above their head holding the worksheet to serve as a disadvantage. In this way, it motivates them to speaking faster, and say more sentences to not be the one with the disadvantage.
I ran this activity as a fun treat after some sentence writing practice. To make it a bit more chaotic, I combined the groups into 3 larger ones to get them more tensed.

Here is the link to the random timer that I used. It worked on my school's tablet, but any randomized timer should work for the activity. I think its great for the customizability, but there are plenty online with similar functions.
