This is my own take on the old style "point and click" horror games. It's by no means a masterpiece, but a few of my classes have had fun with it over the years, especially around Halloween, so now that I've worked out a few of the kinks, this seemed like a good time to post it.
The objective is simple, students choose an option on each screen and attempt to find 7 coins in order to safely escape the haunted mansion. There are also 5 pieces of paper they can collect, but I added these more for flavour than anything else.
The students can explore at their own pace and can visit the rooms in any order. They should always be able to return from any location and shouldn't get stuck anywhere if the links work like I think they do, but please let me know if something breaks or isn't working.
There are also 4 different opportunities for the game to end if they get caught by a ghost. In which case they can go back to the starting screen.
Also, because the students can collect the coins in any order, each coin collection screen has a secret link to the winning slide in the top left corner.
One or two slides may need clicks to get things such as options or animations to pop up, but there are very few of these, so just wait a moment and if nothing happens, just a quick click should fix it.
Finally, the one thing I haven't been able to fix is getting the BGM for each slide to play EACH TIME I return to that slide and not just the first time, so if anyone has some advice about that then please let me know.
I also recommend checking with your JTEs or homeroom teachers that the game is okay for them, personally I don't think I made it too scary but it's always a good idea just to check.
How you decide which students/how students choose an option is completely up to you, I use different methods depending on the class I use it for.
I'll add the file for download but also will add a google drive link for those with free accounts as the file is absolutely huge unfortunately. (Any advice on how to compress the file size is welcome!)
Have fun and I hope you and your students enjoy it!

My students had a lot of fun, despite the English level being too high for them to completely understand without some extra help(ES 6th grade). We made it work though! Thanks~~
@larimarly Really glad your students liked it! The English is definitely more aimed at JHS but I'm they could work throught it with a little help!
Hi. The way I fix the BGM music from playing is adding what I call a 'holding' slide. When you link to a slide through text, it won't automatically reset the animations for that slide. however, slide transitions do. So I 'link' to the holding slide 1 slide before your actual slide, then go to slide transitions and check the automatic transition text box and set it to 0 seconds. All the animations will reset as well as any music on that slide. The holding slide will just be the same background, but I remove all the animations, music, text, etc. Hope this helps.
@Beestonian This is really helpful! Thank you for so much detail. I'm gonna try and do this and see how it works!
