DETAILED EXPLANATION:
- This is called Emotions Basket and is a take on the fruit basket game. Teach the students the words: happy, hungry, sad, sleepy and sick. Also, practice the phrase "How are you?" and the different answers: I'm happy, I'm sad, etc. Get a bit emotional so they can remember the meaning!
- Give each student an emotion card and move the desks so you can put the chairs in a big circle. You will stand in the center. Count "3, 2, 1" and have everyone say "How are you?" together. Then shout out your answer, like "I'm sad!" and the students with the 'sad' card must change seats.
- If someone says "emotions" then everyone changes seat.
- After 10 minutes, you can change the rules so they can say "I'm sad AND sleepy."
VARIATIONS:
- If someone is in the middle for 3 times or more then they have to do something silly.
TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:
- Encourage them to speak loudly.
