Begin by practicing the Classroom English vocabulary on page 8 and the vocab found on page 31 in Step 1 of Total English 1.

Teach a simple gesture to match each and every one of these vocabulary terms. Play Simon Says using these gestures and vocabulary.

Janken Gestures worksheet. All students start at "Walk". They find a friend, play rock-paper-scissors. The winner gives the command, "Walk!" and the loser must make the appropriate walking gesture as used previously in Simon Says. The winner says, "Thank you," and the students part to find new partners. The winner of the previous round graduates to the next gesture on the worksheet, "run" whereas the loser remains at "walk". Students continue until they've progressed through all 9 gestures. When the students finish, they can go to the ALT to get a signature or stamp and then sit down.
