Activity

Bookmark Making: Your Name and its Acronym

A filler activity that encourages students' creativity! Adjectives ready for use attached. Good for JHS or HS.

Pre-requisite
For students: scissors, colored pens, glue
For ALT: colored paper(cut) for bookmarks, ribbon markers

Adjectives copy attached are translated by my JTE. Feel free to edit it.

Give students a small piece of paper and ask them to write their names on it. In cases that student's name is long, you may ask him/her to write a preferred shorter name. This is to avoid complaints from the student who is going to pick that name.

Let them put the pieces of paper in a box and start with the drawlots.

Explain the goal: To make a bookmark using a classmate's name in an acronym.
They may write simple adjectives, a phrase, or if they can, a sentence from the acronym. Ask them to write only positive adjectives.

Distribute the bookmarks and ribbon markers and give them time to accomplish it. Tell them they are free to put some designs after writing words from the acronym.

After a couple of minutes, let the students give the bookmarks personally to the students they picked.
