Halloween Matching Game

A Halloween-themed matching game with 20 unique slides of matching!

Once a year, I teach a group of ES 3rd and 4th graders for a fun Halloween lesson. Usually having fun is the main priority and practicing English is secondary. So, for this year, I made a Halloween matching game with some easy Halloween vocabulary.

Essentially, the flow of this PPT is:
- Practice the 7 vocabulary words used in the PPT (bats, black cat, ghost, mummy, pumpkin, skeleton, witch).
- Explain how to play the game.
- Play the game for as long as you (or your JTE) would like!

There are 20 unique matching slides, but you don't have to go through all 20 (it may or may not even be possible in one class period), but they are there in case your students are REALLY good at matching games and they just speed through it. I think this activity would work best with a touchscreen TV, but most of my schools don't have one so just mouse or touchpad works fine, of course. I have it in the instructions that students will receive a sticker if they get a match, but if you don't give stickers in your classes, feel free to delete that part in ENG/JPN.

I have yet to actually play this yet, so I'm not sure the best way to have students participate, but you could pick straws, have them raise their hands, or even just go in order around the room. Your choice!

I hope you're able to use this activity and Happy Halloween!

Thank you so much for this!
My 6th graders and I are currently playing Halloween minigames before their lessons.
This is so well put together, they'll love it. :D
