Activity

What is Kevin doing Home Alone?

This is an activity to practice making sentences in present continuous form.

This activity was made for JHS 1年 to practice writing sentences using (am/is/are ~ing). Most of my students are familiar with Home Alone and as it's Christmas time when we come to this grammar in the textbook, it's a fun way to practice making sentences.

This was intended to be an individual writing activity, but we encouraged the students to talk to those near them about how to make their sentences if they were struggling. You can make a worksheet if you'd like, but my JTE and I decided it was better for our students to use Lolinote to type out their sentences.

Directions:
The second slide of the PPT shows Kevin's house with 13 numbered boxes around it.

Have your students choose a number and click it to go to the question.

There are gifs on each question slide for the students to watch and think about.

If they need hints, click the slide once. To check the answer, click again.

Once they have checked their answers, click the red house in the bottom right corner to go back to Kevin's house.

The question box that you clicked will disappear.

When you're ready to finish the game, click the black "Home Alone" circle near Kevin.

You may want to set a time limit for the students to work on the questions, then come back and check the answers as a class. Enjoy!
EDIT:
Sorry the file size was so large! Here's the google link
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1p2EysJqu4h5zftLbXYNk-FWV8sgm3KJl/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107766937143598332536&rtpof=true&sd=true
One note, the google document will not erase the numbers you've already selected for the questions, I'm not really sure how to edit that in google slides so I'll leave it to you.

Hi is there any chance you could add a preview or a google slides link for the powerpoint? Would be perfect for my first graders next week.

Thank you for this! Could you please provide the link of the google slides or canva, or compress the file size to less than 40 MB?

Hello, could you also shrink the file so that it can be viewed? I often use this site. https://smallpdf.com/compress-pdf

You can upload your files there and it will shrink them, making it easier for us to open it.

Sorry about the file size! I couldn't reduce it in PowerPoint because of the gifs so I've added a google slides link. I hope that helps!
