Pretty straightforward, really. Students ask each other the questions and write down their partner's answers. After about five minutes, use the attached guide to explain which answers classify as which color. Students add up how much of each color they have to reveal their partner's house. I also have powerpoint to explain the qualities of each house. I've also included a solo version if you just want to give it to students to fill out on their own and come see you at a different time to get their result (which can be a fun excuse for students to talk to you outside of class).
I made this in preparation for the New Horizon's 3 presentation class about JHS memories.
I like the idea, but in my experience very few students are familiar with Harry Potter. They know the name, but haven't read the books or seen the movies. If this could be changed to a different theme like "What Pokemon are you," or something else that they're more familiar with, I think the students will feel more invested in it. I'm a fan of Harry Potter myself though, so I often wish the students were more familiar with it.
You know, I had the same experience, which was surprising given that they have ALL seen at least the first movie (they love to show it at my base school whenever they don't have anything else to do), and the movies are some of the highest grossing in Japanese cinema history. Good idea to change the theme. There's a decent chance I'll be doing something like this again soon, so maybe I'll change it to Pokemon (or Pokemon types?) like you said.
The cast have all grown up, the Harry Potter boom was long, long ago.
I think I can use this at high school English Club! Great idea. Thank you!
