Setup and gameplay is just like the classic two-player game Battleship. Pair up the students and hand out the sheets. Make sure the students don't let others see their own sheet.
You can explain the rules, then "play" with your JTE in front of the class whilst showing students what you're doing. Practicing saying and listening to the grammar is the most important outcome of this activity.
You could follow this up with writing sentences based on students' sheets.
The questions used in this version of Battleship were based on New Horizon 2 Unit 5, but are adaptable.
