Students can practice directions while playing on a pokemon themed map.
I recommend printing on A3 size paper and laminating.
You can adapt the maps anyway you want to play.
I have provided a blank version of the maps. So, you can add your own images and words to match your textbooks.
Materials
map (recommend A3 size)
small cards with buildings/words
markers (students can their use eraser or print out mini pickachus)
Time: 10 -20 minutes
How to play
1. Make pairs.
2. Play janken to decide who goes first. Winner will be the lost person/pickachu and the loser will be the direction giver.
3. Student with the pickachu will draw a picture card and ask “Where is the _______?”
4. The other student must give directions to the destination asked for. “go straight, turn left...” The student with the pickachu must follow the directions given. But like the video game and anime the students cannot pass Kabigon. Hence the direction giver must be careful.
5. Once the student with the pickachu reaches their destination. Students switch roles and repeat from step 3.
There are 4 different maps. So, I recommend after a certain time limit you can have students rotate the maps to keep it fresh.
If you use the blank maps, remember to number or letter them somewhere to easily keep track of the maps students have.
I really like this! Is there any way to get the main map without the background so it can be more readable? I'm not able to print in color so it's hard to see with the background
