I designed this worksheet and game to work in tandem with each other.
Both can be used alone for review. The game is a good, short introduction to "taste" words.
The game has practice slides for taste words from the New Horizon Picture Dictionary and some accompanying pictures.
For the game part of the PowerPoint, I used foods from Kentucky that I grew up eating. Using foods from your own country and region is great fun and makes the students guess.
The game works as follows.
1: Ask for a volunteer. The student will provide the first answer by saying "It is {spicy / salty / sweet / etc.}".
2: The student that just answered must ask "How does it taste?" to a new volunteer. (This is great for helping students practice speaking.)
Repeat this process until you reach the end of the game.
The worksheet is pretty simple. Students can draw or write down a food they like and a food that they don't like. Then, they circle how it tastes. You can incorporate conversation into this by asking students "What do you like? How does it taste?" after they complete the worksheet.
If for some reason you think these should be separate activities, let me know. I can always fix stuff. Looking forward to your feedback!
