Who is it?

Students make their own guess who quiz using the grammar "__ is a ___ who ____"

(Tablets are best for them to be able to research their person, but aren't absolutely necessary.)

First show the example presentation, going through each hint one by one, having the students try to guess who it is as you go through it. The hints get more specific as you go through them.

Explain to the students after the 2 examples that they will be making a quiz like this today, using a famous person/character of their choosing. (Preferably one that their classmates will recognize as well with hints.)

Review the target grammar if needed, and write the structure on the board with some examples of how to fill in the blank.

Give the students the worksheet. The powerpoint has a copy of the worksheet, so you have it on the TV as a reference while explaining it.

I find it works well to give separate time for deciding the character and researching/writing the hints (students have spent the full 10 minutes deciding the character before...)

Give them at most 2 minutes to decide the character/famous person. They write their chosen person where it says "Who:___" They should be keeping it secret from their neighbors.

Give them 10-15 minutes to use their tablets to search for information and write 5 hints for their mystery person. (minimum though is 3)
If they finish writing early there is a space for them to draw their character. But only when they finish writing all 5.

Get them into pairs, play janken. Winner gives their hints one at a time while their partner guesses. Once they guess or give up, switch who is giving the hints and guessing.
Once both people in that pair finish, switch partners and repeat it as many times as you would like for them to practice.

At the end, have volunteers (or randomly chosen from the name cards of fate lol) for people to stand up and present their hints to the class one at a time while the class guesses. I gave these students stickers after for their bravery.

I originally made the demo on Canva (animations were nicer, as well as the access to pictures on it), so here is the link to the template. (can edit)

I also made it into a powerpoint and attached that with the worksheet for anyone who wants that one instead.

Simple and effective - thank you!

Love this! Is there a way to change the canvas presentation so I can make a copy to edit? I don't see that option when I follow the link now. I want to add more examples!

I added an editable version that should work! Please just save it to your own account first before you make changes, because I think it would just edit the file itself. If this doesn't work then I don't know what else to try other than the pptx file I have on here for editing.
