When 4Kids dubbed the first season of Pokémon, they changed the opening theme completely. Students are unlikely to know this banger of a song, so it makes for great listening practice and cultural exchange! You can change which words they need to fill in if you think they're too easy/difficult. Answers to my version are below the instructions. You could even teach them to sing it if they're interested enough, but I think my 1st Grade High Schoolers were a bit past that.
You want "Pokémon Indigo League Opening", available on YouTube. (I've tried 10 times to get the link working but I'm not having any luck.)
Instructions
- Hand out the sheets
- Explain that when the English version of Pokémon was made, they changed the song's tune and words.
- Play it once, having students just listen and not write.
- Tell students they can write this time, and play it again but at x0.75 speed.
- Give them a moment to finish up, then play it a third time, again at x0.75.
- Check the answers with them. You can write them on the board to help them. Optional: play it again at normal speed.

The bangiest of bangers.
They need this at more karaoke bars.
