Directions
Teacher sends the PowerPoint file to all students' PCs.
Students open the file and the PowerPoint will run automatically.
Click "ESC" to turn it off.
After "starting the presentation" a picture with some food and some sports is going to appear. (The picture is the same as on pages 18 and 19 of the Let's Try1! book).
When the student clicks on a picture an "ohajiki" appears on top of that picture. When the student clicks on the "ohajiki" the ohajiki disappears.
Game 1: Simple Bingo. (whole class activity)
Teacher upload the pictures to the " Wheel Image Generator" and displays it on the big screen.
https://pickerwheel.com/tools/random-image-generator/
Students choose 5 cards and place an "Ohajiki"on top of each picture.
Students chant: What do you, what do you, what do you like? while the teacher is spinning the wheel.
If the wheel lands on "apple" all the students who have an "ohajiki" on top of the apple removes the ohajiki and then they have 4 ohajikis lefts.
Students who remove all the ohajikis shout: "BINGO".
Game 2: Pair Bingo. (pair activity)
Similar to the "Simple Bingo". But in the Simple Bingo, students play against the whole class. In the Pair Bingo students play against each other.
Directions
Each student chooses 5 pictures, but they can't be the same pictures. (play rock, paper, scissor to decide wich pictures they want).
Then they place the ohajikis on top of the pictures they want.
Teacher spins the wheel as in the "Simple Bingo" game while the student chant: What do you, what do you, what do you like?
The student who removes all the ohajikis first, is the winner.
(In this game, I usually tell the losers to stand up and move to another desk to find another partner).
Game 3: Guessing game. (pair work)
Each student chooses 5 pictures and place ohajikis on top of the pictures. (Don't let their partners see which cards they are choosing).
After choosing the cards the students play rock, paper scissors to decide who is going to start the game.
Let's assume that Student A won.
Student A starts guessing by saying:
Student A: Do you like apples?
(If student B has an ohajiki on top of the apple, he or she has to say: Yes, I do. and remove the ohajiki. If he or she doesn't have an ohajiki on top of the apple he or she says: No, I don't.)
Student B: No, I don't.
Student B: Do you like baseball?
Student A: Yes, I do. (Student A removes the ohajiki from the top of baseball).
Student who removes all the ohajikis is the loser, and the student who has some ohajikis left is the winner.
Game 4: Life game: (whole class activity).
Similar to the "Simple Bingo" but in this case each ohajiki represents one life.
All students choose 5 pictures each and place an "ohajiki" on top of each picture.
When it's all set, all students stand up.
Students chant: What do you, what do you, what do you like? while the teacher spins the wheel.
If the wheel lands on a picture they chose, they have to remove the ohajiki (they have lost one life)
If they lose all the ohajikis, they have to sit down. Game Over.
Students who remain standing to the end are the winners.
