Movie Title Guessing Game

A short fun quiz about the difference between Japanese and English movie titles.

I used this as a warm up in some of my high school classes. It's a mutliple choice quiz about movie titles in English - I used a mix of Japanese and western movies.

Each slide will first show the Japanese poster - I usually ask the students to read the Japanese movie title for me. Each slide has 4 options for the English title. There are six questions in this version (Up, Fast and Furious 9, Suzume, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 1 Thrice Upon a Time, Howl's Moving Castle and Ponyo) plus one example slide (Frozen). I've also uploaded a template version that just has one of the question slides as an example, since the file was pretty big.

There are three animations that'll happen on every slide.

First click: the underline will appear, indicating a literal translation (直訳、ちょくやく) of the Japanese title.
Second click: the English poster will appear over the Japanese poster.
Third click: an orange box will appear highlighting the real English title.

You could easily swap out or add more titles to this! I tried to pick mainstream movies that most of the kids will know, especially ones where the English title is a lot shorter than the Japanese title, or vice versa.
