I have been wanting to make this for a while now. I thought I'd make this as a new activity for special support.
Materials:
Printable cards (front and back)
110 Red cards - It has the word, a picture, and some info (category & pronunciation)
60 Green cards - There is a simple English sentence on it with a blank.
Notes:
-You can choose how many cards you want to print if you don't want to use them all.
-You can color print and laminate them if you plan to use them a lot!
-I included katakana pronunciation for students who can't read well, but feel free to remove it. (It isn't a Japanese translation, but the closest katakana pronunciation)
For editing (pptx): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1I1jxWRQrtCOVYPYrGYRB8kH6wTmYM5by
Instructions:
1) Just like regular "Apples to Apples," each person gets red cards (in this case 5~7 per person).
2) Lay out one green card in the center of the table. Players have to choose the best card in their hand to correspond with the green card.
3) One player must be the judge and pick their favorite card which was submitted by the other players. The person with the chosen card gets the green card.
4) The green card and the judge changes each round.
5) The person with the most green cards at the end of the game wins.
Notes:
-They can choose their favorite card based on what fits the best in the sentence or what they think is the funniest. Or both. It's up to you.
-The game can go as long as you like.
Green Expansion
20 more green cards which include some JHS 2年 and 3年 sentences for more advanced classes.
Red Expansion
50 more red cards if you play it often and need more cards
All of my special needs classes really enjoyed this and asked to play it again next time! I recommend it for any level!
This is so cool. I can't wait to use it with my JHS kids. How would you use the green cards with two blanks? Does each student put down two cards?
Wow, these are really beautiful. I'll definitely try to use these at some point.
I'll definitely be trying these! They look so clean, you did such a great job making them.
These are really amazing! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing
I had actually made my own deck first based on the Apples to Apples Junior game, but my students like your version way better with the cute pictures and Japanese pronunciation. This has become my go-to extra time game, all my high schoolers love it!
