DETAILED EXPLANATION:
- Cut up the worksheet into the 6 blocks/race sheets - one entire worksheet(6 blocks) for each student or group depending on the class size.
- Explain the activity before handing out the first race sheet face down so everyone starts at the same time.
- Students must fill in the blanks with the correct form of "to be" in each sentence.
- Students must rush to the front to have a teacher check their answers. If all answers are OK, they get the next race sheet. If there are errors, send them back to complete correctly - I usually tell them how many errors there are the first time, then tell them what is wrong the second time.
- First one to finish all 6 sheets wins. I usually reward the fastest 3.
VARIATIONS:
- Game can be adapted to various grammar points.
TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:
- It's good to have an extra activity handy, like a crossword puzzle for those who finish quicker than the rest.
