You will need:
The Go Fish Instructions PowerPoint.
To print, laminate and cut up enough Go Fish cards for your class. It's 1 set for each group. Each set has 30 cards. I put my students in groups of 4 and had them start with 4 cards each. Make sure you print double-sided.
(There are 3 different versions of the sets of cards, each with a slightly different selection of jobs. You can either choose to use just 1, or all 3. It really doesn't matter, it was just to make it more interesting for me when making them).
Set up:
Show the PowerPoint and follow the instrctions.
Put students into groups of 4, and have them deal themselves 4 cards each.
Objective:
Students have to get matching pairs of cards. The winner is the student with the most pairs at the end of the game.
Method:
Show the PowerPoint and follow the instructions. Students don't know Go Fish, so it can be difficult to explain to them. I made this PPT with animations to simulate playing the game. As you go through, students will understand the rules and get excited to play!
At any point in the game, if a student ends up with no cards, they can pick up from the pile.
As they play, students may need help with pronunciation.
Make sure they say "Go Fish!" when they don't have the card!
I played this game for 30 minutes, but you can run this activity for as long as you like.
((For formatting, I use: 'Antique Olive Compact' or 'Segoe UI Black' for titles, and 'UD デジタル UK-R' for body text.))
Thank you! Could you please upload docx in pdf file format?
@Miki248 Okay, I uploaded the cards in pdf format. Hope that helps :)
Your powerpoint slides are made really well. I tried to explain the game without it first but my students usually don't listen to me. Once I put the slide show on the big monitor they were immediately drawn towards it. And they actually followed the rules and enjoyed the game as well.
Thank you very much for uploading this.
Thank you @SamiGrg! My students are the same, they often switch off whenever I try to explain instructions. I made it as visual as possible, so even if they aren't listening to me, they can still understand. Glad they enjoyed it :)
Thank you so much for this! My students absolutly loved it!
