JHS Infinitive Writing & Speaking Practice

Inspired by jonnysniper's activity for the same vocabulary. Students write their opinion and ask their classmates if they agree or disagree. Helps develop some debate skills they may need for HS

Inspired by jonnysniper's writing activity to practice infinitives (It is.. for.. to..) but I added a speaking component as well!

PART ONE:
- Students will write AT LEAST 1 opinion they have. They can use the example/word box or their dictionaries.
- After they have finished writing, students will interview their classmates by saying one of their opinions. Their classmate will respond with "I agree!" or "I disagree", and the student will draw a tally under how many people agree/disagree with their opinion.

PART TWO:
- Students will ELABORATE on the opinions they wrote before by using because.
- If time allows it, they can go around the room and share what they just wrote and continue to tally how many people agree/disagree with them after explaining their reasoning.

Ideally, this lesson will help students understand that elaborating on their opinion may help other people understand their argument/point. At the very least, it will help them practice the new grammar, haha.

Attached are the PDF and .doxc file for the activity. You shouldn't need anything else!

EDIT: After noticing the 2nd years have a very similar key sentence in Unit 3, I made a version for them as well!
