I usually do this game at the start of the year with 6th grade to ease into the textbook, and practice self-introduction phrases they've already learned.
First, review the four target expressions - 'I like ~'; 'I can ~'; 'I'm good at ~'; 'I have ~'. Then explain the rules of the activity using the first slide on the PowerPoint. Once the kids understand the basic concept, give them some examples using the PowerPoint. I usually give about four of five questions based on myself and my country, starting with ones they definitely know the answer two and getting harder as it goes on.
Once you've finished your examples, hand out the worksheet and ask them to write two truths and one lie about themselves. Make sure to stress that they should try and make it difficult for their classmates to understand which is the lie so that it's more fun.
Once they've finished writing their worksheets, this can be either in the same class or the following one if you want to mark them first, have the kids present their quizzes. Depending on your class size and how much time you have, they can either do this in groups or in front of the class.
My kids always really enjoy this one, and I find it's a fun way to start back into a new year.
Two Truths, One Lie Self-Introduction Game
Two truths one lie game to practice phrases used for self-introductions. Created for ES 6th Grade but could also probably be used in JHS classes.
