You're a lifesaver! Thanks so much!
Just a heads up, in Native American culture, they dont like when that monster is spoken about and speaking/writing its name is considered maybe bad or offensive. It may not sit well with people who are native. Maybe consider replacing it with the Jersey Devil or The Carolina Lizard Man?
Nobody is going to be offended. It`s a fun educational moment.
I agree with @Kmontgo! Maybe even something like the loch ness monster would be better...? Something students might be familiar with c:
It's not a bad thing to say, or let alone type, the creatures name. The Wendigo isn't the original name for the creature; its original name, which could be deemed "bad" to say due to potentially attracting the creature, is a different word in a specific Native American language. The stories of the creature have been passed down for centuries, and across cultures, via storytelling methods i.e speech and writing. I don't think that passing information to your English Classroom should envoke it being called bad or offensive, though if people do have a issue with it then they're free to change it as they wish.
