REVIEW and QUIZ
Open the PowerPoint and have the students repeat after the ALT from slides 1 to 11. From slide 12 the students should try to answer by themselves. Give them about 5 seconds to think and then have them answer together (1, 2, ANSWER).
PREP
Print and laminate business card sized cards of pages 1 to 11. You should print enough of each card for your class size to be able to find a pair. For example, in this activity someone with a 'Wake up time' card will need to find the other person with a 'Wake up time card'.
ACTIVITY: pair-search
The students will each be given a laminated card at random. The students will stand up and try to find the person with the same 'What time is it' card. The ALT or JTE can join in the activity if there isn't an even number of students to find a pair.
The students should ask each other Q: "What time is it?" and A: "It's ~ a.m./p.m. It's ~ time." until they find the person with the same card. Once they find their match, they should sit at their desk. The JTE and ALT should support the students who are having trouble finding their pair/having a hard time saying the Q/A by themselves.
I usually do more than one round of this activity. Each round is about 3 to 5 minutes. After the round collect the cards and redistribute them to play the pair-search activity.
Love it. I do think that dream time should be 3 AM not PM, as it is early morning not afternoon.
