I read about this game online and then saw that Jimmy Fallon and guests sometimes play it (or at least used to, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e81SqVE-4Uw) and decided to make a larger class-friendly version. Though this should be great for small classes too. This is quite simple but should be good fun!
-Students are in teams by rows.
-The front students turn their desk around to face the back of the classroom so they can't see the words as they come out (they have to try to guess the word).
-Show the word on the TV/projector.
-The teams take turns to give ONE-WORD HINTS! So, team 1 gives a hint, then the student from team 1 at the front gets one guess, then move on to the next team. One hint, one guess, one hint, one guess, one hint, one guess,... moving through the teams.
-First student to guess gets a point.
-Continue from the next team for the next word and go as long as you want.
Teams can talk about what word to give as a hint, but they must be quiet when another team is giving a hint/guessing. Watch out for students reading the word out loud or giving extra hints. I would suggest moving the tables back so that there is a bit of distance between the hint giving students and the guessing student. This should be great for elementary school, junior high school or high school. Some words might be difficult for elementary schools though. Perhaps skip the difficult words or write some easier ones in their place. There are enough words to do this activity multiple times with the same class I think.
Have fun with this guys! Stay healthy and happy! 5 more weeks to Christmas break! Whooop whoooop!
This is a really good idea! I took out some words that I know my kids might struggle with but I will definitely utilise this! My kids have a '90 Seconds Vocab' sheet so I'll definitely use this format in the future. Thanks again!
