Christmas Card with Origami Christmas tree

This is a christmas tree that can be easily made by ES - JHS and SN students

The directions are in the slides.

I got the idea from an online site so I am crediting it here. I used her pictures to make the slides.

Some Tips:

  1. I used this activity for JHS special needs and didn't think to tell the students to stick the tree on the front side of the card. So some students stuck the tree on the back side with the card opening "Japanese style". We left it like that. Just in case, be sure to advise them which side to stick the tree, especially for younger students or special needs students.

  2. I used the dark blue paper at my school and cut it in half. The size is between B4 and A3. Check your school office. So one paper for two students. Colored pencils work best to write on the cards as they show up well. I had extra blue paper that students could use to test the color they like.

  3. I used the 6-tree template as it made for a fuller tree and the school had light green paper so everyone had the same color tree.

  4. I got some star stickers from Daiso for them to put on the card. Big ones for the top and small small ones for the background. Because the paper is dark-blue, it gives the appearance of a night sky.

  5. For my special needs class, this took two class periods. One class to make the cards, second class to write the message and design their cards. For other classes, it could take only one class period.
