This is an activity to practice the simple past. Students look at the pictures, put them in order, and change the sentences from present to past tense when writing.
Here's how I run the activity:
- For lower level students, make pairs.
- Check the reading and meaning of the picture descriptions.
- Have students work in pairs (or alone) to put the story in order. If there's a problem point for the class, give them a hint on the board.
- Check the order on the board. Optionally, ask the students how to spell the past tense verb in each sentence.
This was originally made for students who were generally at a low level. So I put in some of the sentences in the order so the students would have checkpoints. I also included a box showing the present and past tenses of the verbs. It might be a good idea to alter these points according to your students' needs.
