Activity

The Nutrition Label

This activity helps to explain the components of the food label. I edited the ppt from @nachona "where is it eaten?" to make this. Thank you for the slides! This was created for pg 19 NH2

Use the PPT to introduce snacks that can be souvenirs from around the world. Thanks to @nachona for his "where is it eaten?" Powerpoint (link on side for original PPT).

Recommended use:

Let the students repeat the name of the snacks after you and then make their best guess as to where it is from. Suggest you do this as a row activity because it is very short. (appox. 8 mins)

After explaining the nutrition label at the end, there is a short quiz slide. Just start from question one and go in order to reveal the answers by clicking forward. (2 mins)

After the PowerPoint distribute the worksheet. Students choose one of the snacks from the list to fill in the missing information from the postcard. (5 mins) Secondly as a pair activity, students can create their own snack and write a short description including the name, ingredients, allergen information and best before date. They can draw a quick advertisement or label and present the snack to the class. (rest of class time)
