Materials:
picture cards (one for each student)
worksheet
ROUND 1
Explain the categories first: character, person, place, country, thing, animal, food, fruit, sport, job, event, month, drinks, subject, body part
Give each student a picture card and tell them not to show it to others. I attached the photos we used in the class. You may choose yours if you think there are better and more contextualized things/places. Give the worksheet(which I also attached below) as well.
Tell the students that they will make three hints about the picture card they picked. They will use the sentence: This is a (person/thing) who/which ~. If some students have a hard thinking of hints, tell them to at least give 2.
When everyone is finished, demonstrate with JTE how to do the hint quiz. Encourage them to use English as much as possible when talking to their classmates. Simple English like, "Are you ready? Hint 1...That's right!" You may ask them to count how many correct answers they've guessed.
ROUND 2: Let's Collect Stickers as many as we can!
At this round, students will have the chance to think of anything they want to create hint quiz with.
At this time, you might not have enough time to do the quiz in round 2, but this is how it goes on the 2nd lesson:
a. Put students in a group (6~7 members). Have them quiz the other members. This will serve as their practice before starting with the main part of the lesson.
b. After everyone has done with quizzing, give each group a point system object that they could trade as they play the game (e.g. point card, stickers, play money, whatever your JTE will approve of) The goal of the game get as many (stickers)as you can by rightly guessing the quiz of other groups.
c. Give each student at least 3 (stickers) to use. When a member runs out of (stickers), he can ask a member of his group to lend him one.
d. Let them stand up, quiz the members from other groups and get (stickers). Give them a time limit to do so. We gave our class 10 minutes.
d. When the time is up, ask them to count how many stickers they got from other groups.
ROUND 3 Group vs. Group
a. In their respective group, members this time will agree upon one thing they want to make a quiz with. After agreeing and making hints, each group will quiz other groups by reading the hints aloud. Using a white board and marker would be better so each group will have the chance to answer.
Is the powerpoint file missing, by chance?
Hi! My bad I forgot to attach it, and I can't find the tablet pc the school lent me where I saved it. So I just put the categories in the description, please check it.
