Materials: picture cards (different objects)
Prepare picture cards for all the students. This means you have to prepare 36 different object picture cards if you have 36 students. When you can find some small flashcard materials in your school, you can use them. In my case, I was able to find these small flashcards of objects, so I don't have to search and make cards myself.
Give each student a card and tell them not to show or tell it to others. JTE will have to explain the scene that students must assume that the object they have with them is theirs (to give clarity to the use of whose)
How to play:
Divide the class in groups (5~6 members)
Explain to students that the goal is to remember the objects each of their classmates has on the picture cards.
First, demonstrate the game with JTE. All students raise their picture cards as one in 10 seconds while JTE tries to picture all what he sees and remember who does have this and that object.
After 10 seconds students put down their cards, and the JTE has to turn his back (facing the board) while ALT gets one picture card from a student. ALT then gives the card to the JTE. The JTE will try to find the owner of that object(picture card) by using the dialogue below:
JTE: Whose (smartphone) is this? (Hina), is this yours? {first chance}
Hina: No, its not mine.
JTE: Maybe it's (Yuri's) {second chance}
Yuri: Yes, it's mine!
JTE then gives the card to the owner.
JTE: Here you are.
Owner: Thank you.
Tell the groups they have two chances to guess.
Start with the game. You may let each group member volunteer play janken to determine who will play first or just call random group to try. Call a group in front and start with the game. All members of the group shall stay in front, be focused enough to remember the pictures raised by each student from the other groups. Encourage all the group members to use the dialogue above.
Play the memory game until every group has tried to play.
