Inspired by the classic Christmas party game. I did this with my JHS kids for our Christmas lesson. They had tons of fun with it.
- Get a Christmas stocking from any 100-yen shop and fill it in with as many things as you want. I filled it with 15 Christmas ornaments, random stationary and household items. (Make sure you fill it with things that you won't miss and won't be easily broken because they might be ruined by the end of the activity.)
- Make sure to seal the opening of the stocking with a clip/ribbon/etc. Just make sure the students can't peep inside.
- Separate the class into groups of 4-5.
- Have each group feel the stocking for 10 seconds before moving to another group.
- Give the students 30 seconds to write down what they think is inside on a piece of paper.
- Put all the group's papers on the board and check what they've written. If they get an item correct, dramatically reveal the item from inside the stocking. (It's funnier if you have really unlikely stuff in there and they get it right!)
- The group who gets the most items correct is the winner.
