DETAILED EXPLANATION:
- Before the game, write an upside down 'A' on the chalkboard and ask students, “Is this A?” Call for a student to come up and write the correct letter on the blackboard.
- Tell students to make pairs and have them look at their worksheet, find the alphabet mistakes and write the correct letter above them.
- Tell students to clear their desks since practically all their school supplies have some type of lettering on them.
- Give students a time limit, let`s say 5 minutes, then have volunteers write the correct letters on the chalkboard and have the students check their worksheets with a red pen.
- There are a total of 16 mistakes.
VARIATIONS:
- This can be used as an individual activity.
- This activity can also be used as a full time class for special needs, or as a warm up activity in the introductory class for 6th grade elementary school just before they come to JHS.
TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:
- If you let students use a pencil, they will erase mistakes they've made, which is, in my opinion, not good. One way to learn is to be able to see where and what kind of mistakes have been done.
