Mario Kart Must

Students use "You must~" to explain Japanese road signs that Mario Kart characters must obey (worksheet included).

This is a short Powerpoint where a blank road sign appears and the students use the vocab and grammar they've aquired in Unit 5 to say what the sign means. For example, the red triangle means "you must stop". This ties into Here We Go! 2 Unit 5 (specifically pgs 66-67) but it should fit in with most other Textbooks' imperative lessons.

This worked fine in Gunma where almost everyone drives, so my students are used to driving around with their parents, but if your students are in an area without much car ownership they might not recognise some of the signs outright.

Accompanying worksheet very much inspired by "Kings and Queens" by Jake W, where the students have to write down some rules they would make if they ruled the Mushroom Kingdom. Some of my students' answers were very creative!
