I use this activity to introduce imperative form in a humorous way. I ask the students if they know what a King or Queen is. I then write a couple rules on the board and order the JTE around like I'm a king. For example:
- Go to the library on Saturday.
- Eat vegetables every day.
- Don't play basketball.
The JTE can either respond with "Okay!" if they agree, or "No thanks..." if they don't want to follow my order. I try to ask questions so that they'll give both answers at least once. After checking that the students understood the orders, I pass out the papers and ask the students to come up with their own orders. You can alter or erase the sentences if you think it would work better with your class. Ask the students to write three orders and then give them to their classmates. The students should write their partner's name under "Okay!" or "No thanks" depending on how they responded to the order.
