DETAILED EXPLANATION:

  • After dividing the class into groups, students will compete against each other within the group. Hand out a worksheet to all the students. Hand out a die to each group.
  • Give the students time to fill out the worksheet. Their responses have to be something which they can show the ALT or the JTE.
  • The students then must hand their papers to the student on their right.
  • The students in the groups start by rolling the die. The goal is for the student is to roll a one. If they don't roll a one it is the next students turn.
  • When a student rolls a one they must read the first sentence to the student on their left, the student who had originaly written the sentence. That student must go to the ALT/JTE and perform the action. When they are finished and the student returns to their seat the student who had rolled the one can remove the number one asteroid. On their next turn they will want to roll a two.
  • The objective is to remove all the asteroids and save Earth.

TEACHING SUGGESTIONS:

  • This is a good review activity after the students have already learned the grammar point.
