Common alphabet mistakes

Worksheets to demonstrate the importance of writing clearly!

I've spent a lot of time correcting spellings and noticed some letter pairs that students accidentally mix up by not writing clearly, so I made these sheets to show students that miswriting a single letter can completely change the meaning of a word.

I printed them double sided and started with the sheet with the single letter practice first. It's pretty fun to read through the sentences together and have students laugh at the differences in meaning, and demonstrate on the board how they might be written incorrectly. For the second page, I'd instruct students to both write and circle the word they think is correct (as the aim is to ensure they're writing it clearly). I ran it with each junior high grade and also the special ed class, and the time varies mostly based on writing speed or how much you want to explain and read through together.

Unfortunately I seem to have deleted everything but the pdf of the first page, so apologies if there are things people want to fix or edit

No 'k' and 'K'? That's one of the most common mistakes that I see.

@Denpa I emphasize when teaching it that the majority of the time a mistake is clearly a mistake, i.e. Kenya with a lowercase k is just wrong. In this activity I just wanted to show that if they mix up letters a word's meaning can completely change, which can be pretty funny
