Trick or Treat Map

Practice giving simple directions as you Trick or Treat!

This is a quick warmup to get the kids in the Halloween spirit and demonstrate what it's like to Trick or Treat in America. I reskinned it from my Pokemon version to go with NH5's conveniently-timed directions unit - but it could work as a refresher for 6th grade!

The PPT features a map of a neighborhood on Halloween night, with 4 houses. Have the students guide you to each house by calling out "go straight!" "turn left!" "turn right!". I made this on Slides so between that and my already limited PPT skills there's not much by way of animation, haha - but
if you click on a house, it'll take you to a slide with a spookily-decorated housefront. Have the kids shout "trick or treat!", then use enter/space to see what treat (or lack thereof - there is a toothbrush house) awaits them. Then click the pumpkin bucket to get back to the map. Based on what candy appears in the bucket, the order of the houses is red house -> brown house -> mansion -> haunted house.

At the haunted house at the end, a ghost takes all their candy, but leaves them with a thank-you-note. Happy Halloween everyone!

This is great, I peared with with my haunted house sildes and told the kids we can't just let that ghost take our candy, we need to get our candy back. Then I had fun watching them try not to dead around every 5 mins in my haunted house.

Thank you. This was a really good warm up activity and it set up the Halloween theme for the rest of the class.
