Modeled after the American game show, students break up into groups, and try to guess the price of a food item in the ALT's home country. The closest guess wins, but you automatically lose if you go over the actual price. Used for practicing three digit numbers, and thinking about prices.
In my case, I compared the items on the McDonalds menu in Japan, and the U.S. (you can change the activity for your country). The students are shown an item with the Japanese price in yen, and must guess in their groups what they think the price is in America. All prices have been converted to yen for consistency (2023 exchange rate).
They are given 1 minute to discuss in a group, and then go around and say the price that they guess. The group who guessed the closest number (lower than the actual price) gets a point. An exact answer gets two points. Any answer higher than the actual price automatically loses. At the end, the group with the most points wins.
