1) [2 mins]: Aisatsu. (Hello / Good Morning / etc). You can extend here: when I say hello, I wave my hand . Oh, it's cold! When I'm cold I stomp my feet etc.
2) [4 mins starter]: Powerpoint: Body parts review. Repeat after me and point to the bodyparts. When you reach shoulders, look thoughtful and mime and say, head... shoulders. Then when you reach knees, look thoughtful and mime, head, shoulders, knees... Then again when you reach toes. This tends to build up excitement in the classroom.
3) [4 minutes]: Powerpoint: Children to stand. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes, with Anya-chan! Cycle through the powerpoint a couple of times, start slowly. Be sure to do the action and have the children say the words as they do the action. As you repeat you can start to increase speed and say it to the rhythm of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
4) [6 minutes]: Powerpoint / Youtube: Head, shoulders, knees and toes with Mickey Mouse. Sing and dance through head shoulders knees and toes. I normally play through two or three times at this stage.
5) [10 minutes]: Powerpoint: On the Anya-chan slide introduce or remind them of the rules of "Simon says...". This is "Anya says..." If "Anya says touch your head" you touch your head. If you just say "Touch your nose." they SHOULD NOT touch their nose, because "Anya didn't say touch your nose". I usually play this a few times, going a little faster each round, sometimes doing in order of the song.
6) [10 minutes]: Powerpoint + Worksheet: Wordsearch. Help Anya-chan find the words. On the powerpoint talk through the words, so that the children understand they're in order of the song. Say they can look at Anya-chan if they need help. I usually do this in pairs or small groups for 7-10 minutes, then as a class go through the answers. Instead of reading the word, ask "What's the next word?" When you get the right answer say, oh yes, its x. Who found x? Optionally have a student come up and point to the word on the screen before revealing it. If you use stamps or stickers as rewards this is a chance to offer them for people presenting the word to the class.
7) [3-5 minutes]: Color-in Anya: (this is optional but a good cooldown for a few minutes and gives you a chance to reload the song.)
8) [3 minutes plenary]: Powerpoint / Youtube: Head, shoulders, knees and toes with Mickey Mouse. Sing and dance through head shoulders knees and toes. Usually this will be the point where even the weakest students are singing along to the song, so encourage them all to sing loudly.
9) [1 minute]: Lesson end / see you.
Notes: all my classes have really enjoyed this lesson, and even been continuing singing into break and lunch.
If you don't have access to a screen, the review portion of this presentation can be printed as flashcards.
You can also pull out the Anya-chan (Simon) says, part of the lesson as a warm-up in another lesson.

Hi, Is Anya`s photo can be used without license? Are Japanese schools particular on that?
